강연자 소개:
신준범 교수는 현재 오리건주립대학교의 그래픽 디자인과 부교수 및 학과장이자, 제임스-매디슨 대학교의 인터랙티브 미디어 앤 그래픽 디자인과 조교수이다. 이외에도 그는 국제 인간공학 및 디자인 학술대회(AHFE International, Human Factors in Communication of Design) 기술위원, 재미한인과학기술자협회(Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association, KSEA) 크리에이티브 디렉터 및 이사, 한국 산업기술진흥원(Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology, KIAT) 글로벌기술협력지원단 위원, 한미 과학기술 학술대회(US-Korean Conference, UKC) 크리에이티브 디렉터 및 준비위원 등을 역임하고 있다. 또한 미국의 권위적인 국제 디자인 공모전인 그라피스(Graphis)에서 디자인과 포스터 부분에서 다수의 수상경력이 있으며, 50회가 넘는 국제 전시를 한국은 물론 미국, 캐나다, 이태리, 일본, 중국 등 세계 각국에서 전시한 바 있다. 신준범 교수는 퍼듀 대학교에서 비주얼 커뮤니케이션과 인터랙션 디자인 복수전공으로 석사학위를 받았다.

발표 요약:
한국은 풍부한 문화 유산과 독특한 역사를 가지고 있다. 그 속에서 일상과 예술 그리고 디자인 통해 새롭게 융합과 창조의 가치를 아름다움으로 끌어 낸다. 한국적 문화와 다른 예술 양식을 융합하는 것은 쉽지 않지만 새로운 시각과 아이디어들을 도출해 내고 이러한 과정을 통해 한국의 다양한 문화와 역사를 반영하는 독특하고 역동적인 시각적 언어를 만들어 낸다. 문화와 예술, 디자인, 기술의 융합을 바탕으로 창조한 작품들은 우리에게 새로운 시각과 경험을 제공한다. 이를 통해 우리 문화를 보호하고 다양성을 존중 하는 것이 중요하다는 것을 인식하고, 사회적 환경 변화의 중심에 있는 예술과 디자인은 새로운 트렌드와 문화를 창조함을 모색한다.

About the Lecturer:
Jun Bum Shin joined, an assistant professor of graphic design in the School of Arts and Communication, the faculty in 2015 at Oregon State University after four years in a similar role at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA., and three years as a graduate teaching assistant at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN.
He holds Master of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Visual Communications Design from Purdue and also studied at the Korean Institute of Design Promotion in Korea and the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. He’s an award-winning artist and designer whose scholarly publications have focused on designing and directing professional journals.

Abstract:
The innovation and inspiration for Jun Bum Shin’s work come from his home country, Korea. Korean culture has a rich cultural heritage, and innumerable unique and beautiful aspects that can be incorporated into art and design. The lecture will be communicated with audiences based on his work mostly related with Korean culture. Jun Bum shin is using his cultural background as a source of inspiration, resulting in works that are both innovative and deeply rooted in Korean culture in the field of visual communication design. This fusion of traditional and modern elements creates a unique and dynamic visual language that reflects the rich cultural heritage of Korea.
